Sophia Bera Daigle, CFP® is not your father’s financial planner. After working in traditional financial planning firms since 2007 she quit her job at a NY start-up to launch her own firm, Gen Y Planning. Now, she runs a six-figure online business from her laptop. Her recent accolades include the “Top 40 Under 40” by Investment News, the Investopedia “Top 100 Financial Advisors”, and “Investopedia Top 10 Financial Advisors.”
Sophia has been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, Business Insider, Yahoo Finance, CNN Money, CNBC, Huffington Post, Mashable, LifeHacker, and has been listed as one of the Top 50 Nerd’s Eye View Financial Advisor blogs in 2024. She is one of 15 members of the CNBC Financial Advisor Council. If you Google “financial planner for Gen Y” she’s at the top of the list. Sophia lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, Bryan, and their son, Theo, who was born in fall 2020. After spending several months living abroad in 2019, they are excited to share their love of travel with Theo.
Sophia helps people use their money to match their values. Her clients range from creatives to small business owners to Silicon Valley employees. Whether you plan to retire early, take a sabbatical, or build a career you love, we’re excited to work with you.
Nia Gillett, CFP®
Associate Planner
Nia Gillett received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Florida. Upon graduating, she traveled abroad and lived in Australia and Europe for a few years. While there she immersed herself in travel rewards and credit card points & helped her friends back home understand their student loan repayment options, navigate job offers, evaluate their company benefits, and buy their first homes.
These valuable experiences made her realize just how little personal finance education exists in schools, how much she enjoyed learning & educating people about their money, and how important financial literacy is (not just right before retirement), but throughout every stage of life.
Before coming to Gen Y Planning, Nia was the Operations Manager at a tax office, allowing her to bring meaningful tax expertise to the clients at Gen Y Planning! In addition to her tax knowledge, as a YNAB Certified Coach, Nia serves our clients as our resident budgeting expert.
Her passion for helping people with their money led her to pursue and pass her CFP® exam in 2021 and received her full CFP® accreditation in 2022. Nia has worked for your typical father’s financial planner firm in the past. Unsatisfied with the status quo, she firmly stands behind Gen Y Planning’s belief that a new generation needs a fresh approach to financial management— focused on the full picture, not only managing assets, but also people’s goals and values, and the many ways they can leverage their money to meet them.
When she’s not doing yoga, you can catch her kayaking through the mangroves of her home city, St. Petersburg, Florida, adventuring in Colorado, visiting her family in the UK, and running a non-profit art studio in Upstate in New York in the summer.

Irene Lutts
Client Service Associate
Irene is excited to join the Gen Y Planning team after a remote internship with a financial planning firm based in Virginia Beach, VA. Irene’s interest in personal finance began when she was in college trying to plan her future as a dancer. Having been bit by the travel bug at an early age, Irene wanted to be sure she could spend on adventures and still fund her day-to-day life. As an aspiring performing artist, her budget was tight. Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin helped her understand that living intentionally at home would allow her to prioritize travel while continuing to dance.
A partner and two children later, the choice to homeschool was a continuation of Irene’s desire for adventure. Her family’s flexible schedule gave them the freedom to travel when opportunities arose. They did so partly by selling their car and making bicycles their main form of transportation.
A child of educators, Irene loves learning and sharing her knowledge. She is a certified bicycling instructor and teaches youth and adults safe riding skills. A few years ago she began volunteering at a local VITA tax preparation site and found a new passion — talking about finances and helping people do better with their money. She obtained her Financial Paraplanner qualification and started on a new path to support others as they work toward their goals and live their adventures.
