Press Bio:

Sophia Bera, CFP® is not your father’s financial planner. After working in traditional financial planning firms since 2007 she quit her job at a NY start-up to launch her own firm, Gen Y Planning. Now, she runs a 6-figure online business from her laptop. Her recent accolades include the “Top 40 Under 40” by Investment News, “10 young Advisors to Watch” by Financial Advisor Magazine, and “10 of the Best Personal Finance Experts on Twitter.”

Sophia’s been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, Business Insider, Yahoo Finance, CNN Money, CNBC, Huffington Post, Mashable, LifeHacker, and more. If you Google “financial planner for millennials” she’s at the top of the list. When she’s not working from a coffee shop, you can find her in a yoga class or eating a breakfast taco in Austin, TX.

The Informal Version

I didn’t set out to be a financial planner. My dream job was to be a singer on a cruise ship because I loved the idea of traveling the world while performing. The funny thing is that now I get to travel the world to attend and speak at conferences while growing my online business. I made it to my dream job in a really roundabout way. Maybe that’s why my clients enjoy working with me? Because I’m not your father’s financial planner.

I’m just a Midwesterner who loves Twitter, karaoke, wine and a good musical (this is important because there are some bad musicals out there). I love working with young professionals in their 20s and 30s who are looking for a CFP® to help them navigate through big life decisions, like buying a home, paying off student loans, maximizing their company benefits, planning their next vacation, investing in their future, and resisting their brother-in-law’s hot stock tip. I focus on helping them increase their incomes and transition into careers they love.

Being an entrepreneur, I also work with a lot of clients who are bloggers, freelancers, and online business owners who still resist referring to themselves as entrepreneurs (yes, I’m talking to you). They have a lot of questions around how much to have in savings, charging what they’re worth, marketing their expertise to attract clients, and figuring out which retirement plan can save them a crap ton of money on their taxes. Business coaching is a real passion of mine, which is why we spend time working on this together.

Basically, I help people use their money to create their ideal lives. Want to learn more about how I do this? Apply for your free 30 minute strategy session.

It might make sense to file separately one year to take advantage of a particular deduction and then go back to filing jointly. Let's take a closer look. #Taxes #MarriedFilingSeparately https://buff.ly/3n7tGj3
